Duane Spencer started playing music at the age of 3 when his grandfather, Ward Duane, taught him to play the ukulele. At age 10 he began playing drums. At 17 he played behind Van Morrison during his “Brown-Eyed Girl” era, continuing on to record several commercial product jingles. And he can sing, with an instinctive knack for harmony, and ability to hit some falsetto notes that can shatter a wine glass.

Duane was a member of the legendary Martha's Vineyard band Mr. Timothy Charles Duane (aka TCD); he toured the Northeast with the soul-calypso (soca) group Target Rhythm Band; and has played, recorded, and collaborated with a varied list of artists, including Van Morrison, Fred Lipsius, Roly Salley, Richard Bell, Clark Pierson, John Hall, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Kate Taylor, Maria Muldaur, Bobby Cochran, and Mark Volman.

He has written songs & soundtracks for many genres. His catalog has been used on compilation releases, documentary films, and promotional presentations.

Duane lives in Nashville, TN, holding the distinction of being the only drummer in Music City that plays a Cocktail Kit. Find more of his music here.
